Happy New Year!

A very happy and prosperous 2012 to you all.  May you find much happiness and prosperity in the new year.

Looking out of my window this afternoon, looking at the snow fall, my attention was drawn to this small bird-house we have.  It’s a busy place in spring and summer, with lots  of activity.  On a grey, cold and windy day like today, time seems to stand still here.  Had to grab my camera and capture this.  Turned my mind to thoughts of renewal, regeneration and rebirth of sorts – something that the change of seasons always bring to mind.  Today, as I begin the road to recovery from my injuries on Friday, when I broke my jaw and suffered other assorted damage to my face and oral cavity in a freak accident,  it’s not difficult to understand why my thoughts would turn to renewal, regeneration and rebirth.    However beyond the physical renewal, my thoughts are caught up more in the way we live our lives – we’re always busy, always rushing to the next thing, we always seem to have a to-do list that never sees all items crossed out in a day.  In this mêlée of day-to-day life, we forget to live in the moment, to be aware and tuned-in to the present, the now.   I don’t know about you but I find myself far to often in the future – planning, thinking, strategizing, evaluating risk – things that I do as part of my workday every day.   A state of mind that bleeds into all aspects of my life.  So the real rebirth to me, my quest in 2012, is to live in the moment.  Fully.  To be aware at all times.  To see the bird house hang outside the window, the snow swirling around it on this beautiful January day.  The first day of 2012.
